4 ways to spice up your spring break

Not going on a fab fam vacay this spring? Chin up, chica!  Your kitchen or backyard may not sound as exciting as a beach trip, but you can have just as much fun right at home.  Try out a few of these ideas for a week that’s all about fun, family, friends and fitness. No more excuses to laze the days away!

Pass the peas, please
Instead of meeting your besties at that delish local café again, invite ‘em all over for lunch or dinner at your house. Sounds like a ton of work, right? Before you start scribbling down all the stuff you’re gonna need, opt to have a potluck instead. Have each of your gals (and Y-O-U) make one or two of their fave dishes to bring over. It’s a great way to learn new recipes and try a ton of new food. Plus, you don’t have to do all the work!

Want to make it even more fun? Have a picnic instead of your traditional sit-down meal. With lovely weather, your cutest sunglasses and comfy checkered blankets are an absolute must. If the weather’s not so hot, bring your picnic indoors. Sure it’s a li’l unconventional, but sharing a creative way to enjoy delish food with your BFFs is always awesome!

Adventure into the unknown

Laying around over break is always nice and relaxing. But, that doesn’t mean you should spend your whole SB as a couch potato! Whether you’re a chic shopaholic or a sporty football fan, school vacays are a great chance to explore a new hobby.

Think it would be cool to make your own homecoming dress? Want to work on that green thumb? Wish you knew how to make your mom’s delish apple pie? Now’s the perf time to try out something new. Look into taking some classes or just experiment on your own. Invite your gal pals to join you in your activity exploration. Bon voyage!

Fun with the whole fam
With school, homework, after-school extracurrics and hanging out with your friends, there isn’t always a ton of time to spend with your fam. Yeah, you may have arguments with your ‘rents, and your bro and sis may get on your nerves, it’s always good to make time for the people who love you most.

Since you’ll have so much free time (lucky girl!) share a little bit of it with your fam. Sit down to dinner together to catch up or organize a family game night full of everyone’s faves and snacks. In the mood for something a tad more original? Have a family iron chef competition to inspire some creativity.  And the secret ingredient is…?

A workout…minus the work

Let’s be honest, working out can be a major chore.  Instead of dragging yourself to the gym, it’s time to experiment with a new exercise routine.  From kendo to ballroom dancing, kickboxing to yoga, there are plenty of physical activities for you to try out.  If you ever even considered a diff workout (no matter how weird it may sound), just go for it girl!

Even if you’re a li’l hesitant to join that new class at the gym, go ahead and give it a try. And if you do stumble upon a routine you love, you’ll get a great sesh in, minus the struggle to roll out of bed in the morning. Ask some of your besties to join you so you can all help push each other to get that beach bod you’re craving. Next stop, summer!
