A Puzzling Adventure

Like puzzles but get bored of the same simple directions every time? Sorta like fantasy games but can’t, for the life of you, figure out how to use a virtual sword to kill a demon? I would answer “yes” to both questions…so I was super intrigued to try the new Puzzle Quest 2 for Nintendo DS.

Use your expertise in the familiar “match 3+ gems of the same color” to battle trolls and save the village of Verloren. Players create a character by choosing one of four “classes” and receive quests from the people of Verloren to save the village from the evil Gorgon. Depending on who (or what) you’re fighting, you’ll be able to use different powers and magic spells to spice up the matching puzzle.

Puzzle Quest 2 combines the two most popular genres of games—puzzles and role playing—to create an adventure anyone can play. At first, I was confused by the “skits” in between rounds, but then I soon realized they were really just for fun and actually add a story to the brainteasers.

Be sure to check out Puzzle Quest 2 (in stores now) and let us know your thoughts.

Are you a fan of puzzle games? Do you prefer more role-playing quests? Blog about it, babes.
