My BF and I are moving too fast!

My boyfriend and I have been going out for three months, but I'm pretty sure we've been going way too fast! He came up to me one day and just said, "Do you wanna go out with me?" Then three weeks later he gave me a cheek kiss. A week after that, he kissed me on the lips when I wasn't ready. Now every time we talk, he says, "I love you" or "I miss you." I like him, but I just don't want to take it so fast! What can I do to slow things down?

Hey chica,

Whoa there! If you know that your relationship is going over the speed limit, you definitely got the right mind-set to slow things down!

Speak up

Whenever you have a problem in any relationship, it’s always best to speak directly to the source. So the next time you see your BF, let him know that you want to talk to him because that’ll be the most effective way to get this sitch solved.

Getting it right

When you talk to him, remember to watch what you say. You don’t want to give off the impression that you don’t like him any more, just that things are moving too fast for you. You also don’t want to make him feel like your relationship with him was completely one-sided either. Instead, let him know how much you appreciate him and how special he is to you and that’s why you want to slow things down.

Actions speak louder

Along with the talk, show it with your actions so that he remembers not to rush you. This doesn’t mean you should avoid him for three days, but rather, use subtle actions. For example, if he tries to go for a kiss on the lips turn it into a peck on the cheek or maybe even a hug. Little things here and there should do the trick.

Good luck!
