My friends are always busy!

My friends are driving me insane. Or rather, my lack of friends. I talk to tons of people at school, but now that it's summer, I have nobody. All my old friends keep ditching me, and the new friends are involved with different things, on vacation or busy. I don't know what to do. I don't want to spend this summer, or the rest of my life, friendless! Please help.

Whoa there girl. Now let’s not go overboard here. Before we go anywhere, let’s make it clear: you will NOT stay friendless for the rest of your life. Yes, you might seem down at the moment, but this summer is not going to determine your future, and on top of that, summer’s not over just yet. You still have time to turn things around.

So, the first thing you want to do is to change around that attitude. It cannot be true that you have nobody. Why? Because the world is full of people and you can easily go out and make these people your friends. Sure, you’ll have to step out of your comfort zone, but hey! you won’t be the only one feeling a bit awkward at first!

Secondly, make plans way ahead of time. There is no way that your friends can suddenly be busy or on vacation if you plan out a date to meet up and hang out. In many cases, it takes a lot of effort to hang out during the summer because there are so many things to do. So, why not be part of the business? Call up your girlies and try writing out your schedule (that’s another way to get out of boredom too!).

And lastly, sure this summer might not be working out as planned with your friends, but the summer doesn’t exist just to hang out with your friends. How often is it that you get some alone time to read a good book, finish that scrapbook you started, or look back at old pictures and laugh? There are lots of things to-do, if you just take a moment to look.
