Play Now! Disney Sing It: Family Hits

“Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase.” But what’s even more wonderful is the latest installment of Disney Interactive’s popular Disney Sing It fam—Disney Sing It: Family Hits
(in stores now).

We were lucky enough to test the new karaoke style video game for Wii (it’s also available for PlayStation 3). The results? While we quickly discovered our vocal chords aren’t as stellar as The Princess and the Frog’s Anika Noni Rose (who lends her talents as players’ personal vocal coach at the start of the experience) the game was sheer entertainment for those brave enough to sing—plus, those too timid to even try.

Disney Sing It: Family Hits brings the magic from our beloved classics back to life with 30 of the most popular videos and tunes from current—and classic—Disney and Disney Pixarfilms movies. Some of our featured faves? Cinderella’s “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Bo,” Beauty and the Beast’s “Be Our Guest” and “Our Town” from Cars. Each song is accompanied by a video montage of original footage from the paired flick, making it even more fun for spectators to stay involved.
Like with many karaoke video games, players get to choose from several playing modes: Singing solo, pairing for a duet, duking it out in a head-to-head battle or getting the whole clan involved with Family Mode, where the mic can get passed to up to six players.

The most amusing part of it all? The game records your performance, allowing you to play back your song once complete in four different vocal ranges: Your normal voice, squeaky like a mouse (our fave), lion or like a robot.

While at times we found it hard to hear the actual music to the song in the background while we were belting it out, this game was a huge eye-opener to how complicated lyrics to some of our fave Disney hits actually are. All are family-friendly (translation: You won’t feel squeamish singing them in front of your ‘rents), yet there are way more words and tricky notes than what we thought to each…OK, maybe that’s just us?

Disney Sing It: Family Hits allows all ages to come together and reminisce about fave childhood flicks. Unlike many karaoke games loaded with songs from the hottest jams on the radio this moment, this one will never get old because, face it, the songs it features still haven’t. Always leaving things on a positive high with notes of encouragement to all players (no matter how tone deaf they might be), it truly pushes participants to be the best rockstar they can possibly be.

Be sure to pick up your copy of Disney Sing It: Family Hits and let us know your thoughts.

Which is your favorite Disney film? Blog about it, babes.
