Should I Carry a Pad in My Purse?

I just went to the doctor, and he asked if I have my period yet. I said no—I'm only 10 years old! He said I will probably get my period when I’m 12. What should I do to prepare? My mom suggested putting a pad in my purse.
Knowing when you will get your period is difficult. The best way you can prepare for it is to learn a lot about it. Be totally prepared for when that special day comes by talking with your mom or any female relative.
We are always ready to give advice and help you know more about what your period means. If you are only 10 and he said that you will get it when you are 12, you don’t have to worry about it now—you still have plenty of time. But keep in mind that there isn’t a total science to the whole when-will-I-get-my-period thing. Your doc gave you his best bet, but it could still come earlier or later.
If you want to be prepared, carrying a pad in your purse when you turn 12 or a little before is a great idea. Since it’s hard to predict when the day will come, don’t think about it too much or let it worry you. It’s a part of our womanhood that we all must go through.
