Beauty 911: How can I avoid hat hair?
Ah, the unfortunate side of wearing that cute beret or fab fedora: hat hair. Whether your hair gets frizzy, static-y or messy (or all of the above, like ours!), we’ve got quick fixes that are sure to remedy any bad hair situation. You’ll be itchin’ to take off that cap.
Smooth Operator
Tame flyaways with a quick shot of hairspray. We like products that leave hair smooth but not stiff. Try Living Proof’s No Frizz line, which is scientifically proven to combat frizz (seriously, science geeks invented it). For best results, spray a small amount on your fingertips and pat down any culprits. Stash it in your locker for a quick spritz before class.

Super Sleek
Beat dry, static-y hair at the root with a leave-in treatment that protects strands against cold weather and dry air. Apply to hair just after washing and conditioning, and reapply if necessary during the day. Be sure to focus on your ends—the driest part of your hair.

All Tied Up
Hate the knotted mess and flattened hair that happens when you take off your hat? Avoid the pain by wearing French braid pigtails. To start, part hair in the middle and separate into two sections. Working with one section, divide the hair at the front of your head into three small parts and begin braiding, gathering more hair every time you make a new link in the braid. Work your way down the crown of your head to the back, and tie off with an elastic. Then, repeat on the other side.
