5 ways to get fit over holiday break

1. The early bird gets fit
Take advantage of your free mornings to get up and move. “Go for a run or do some yoga before everyone gets up,” says Kelli Calabrese, co-author of The Adventure Boot Camp Cook Book.

2. No excuses
Forgot to bring your running shoes to Grandma’s? Too frazzled to hit the gym? Be resourceful and find other ways to work out. Borrow some snow boots, then get outside and shovel. Or, pull up a YouTube Pilates vid, no shoes required! (And head to girlslife.com for our time-saving holiday packing list.)

3. Ask for active gifts
This year, request prezzies that’ll get you moving, like cute workout clothes, new gear or even a gym membership. Tell your friends and fam about your plans early in the shopping season and they’ll be happy to help ya reach ’em.

4. Get there together
Start some active holiday traditions. Get everyone outside for a game of football or go for a hike with your cousins. “Realize you can be a positive influence on your family,” Kelli swears. Speak up and everyone else will join in.

5. Start your resolution now
Map out your goals and get going ASAP. Give yourself mini rewards, like a new lip gloss or an exercise app for your iPod. When 2011 rolls around, you’ll be in better shape than last year.
