Ed blog: Survive the holidays the healthy way!

With a flurry of events, endless shopping and exams, the holidays are notoriously nutty. This year, I’m making an extra effort to stay calm and be sweet—and I don’t mean by doling out a bundle of prezzies. Here’s my holiday plan:

Make a few minutes to sweat (and chill) daily.
I haven’t quite, um, warmed up to the cold weather yet (the wind is literally howling as I write). Instead of braving the icy weather, I’m exercising indoors to my fave workout DVDs and yoga vids. I’ll battle the elements later in the season—promise. Spending some time exercising and crafting gifts every day is taking some of the stress away.

Make extra time for my BFFs.
Party season isn’t always cheery for everyone out there. This year, I’m trying to be extra sensitive toward buds who may be feelin’ blue. So while everyone on my list isn’t gonna get fancy gifts, I’m trying to give them some face time.

Make plans to get out there.
My bro and I always try to work out together on the holidays. But with all the zaniness, it takes some extra planning to ensure that exercise happens. This year, we’re talking about early a.m. runs (save me!) and cross-country skiing (cool, right?). My BFF mentioned snowshoeing, so I’m packing my boots and—eek!—crossing my fingers for flurries. We’re all penciling our planners so we don’t push the fitness aside.
