Everyone thinks I'm anorexic

I’m 13 and very skinny. People say that I'm anorexic and it’s frustrating being the skinniest girl in my class.

How can I gain weight? I have no curves either, and I’m not happy with the way I look.

Here’s the secret: Almost no one likes how they look at this age. It’s one of the most difficult ages for body image, period. Girls want to be more curvy, less curvy, gain weight, lose weight, be taller, be shorter, the list goes on. Just remember that you’re still growing into who you will become, and while it’s hard to accept that in the short term, you will eventually get to the end of that growth spurt and you won’t feel so awkward anymore.

But in the short term, it’s important that you ignore the insensitive things people say about you. During adolescence, when you’re growing at such a fast rate, it’s normal to be skinny until your bod catches up with itself and fills out. If your friends are the ones calling you anorexic, tell them that it hurts your feelings and you really wish they’d stop.

If you’re lookin’ to gain some muscle, make sure you’re eating healthy foods high in nutrients and protein, like fruit, veggies and meat. Candy and sweets aren’t going to help your bod grow in the right ways. But eating right and getting good exercise by joining a sports team or doing some strength training (try this!) will help you get where ya wanna go.
