Acid - An original poem

Hey girls! Here's an original poem written by GL reader Katie T. aka ilovesjpnyc. Give it a read and tell us what ya think in the comments.

Acid

The tears slide down my face
Quickly, one by one
They leave a burning trail
That I'm sure can't be undone
As I walk through the halls
I know everyone sees
The imprint of despair
That your hatred leaves
I try to catch your eye
But you throw me a vicious glare
I can tell that it's inevitable
For people to stop and stare
How did this happen?
We were almost sisters yesterday
I guess when girls use piercing words
Friendship fades away
I sit alone on the bus and try
To keep the acid tears from spilling
But the only thing I know to help
Is your friendship, always so filling
I lie awake in bed tonight
Biting back my frustration
The burning tears will be back soon
Dry eyes are forever my fixation
Several years pass, and it's not a surprise
You're now the most popular "it" girl
You wear expensive, snobby clothes
And straighten hair that was once in curls
You saunter by me, flip your hair in my face
Sneering in your cheerleader clothes
And ignore that we were ever friends
That's a door that's best left closed
I try to talk to you, explain a bit
But you simply tell me to leave
With a crushing smirk you look away
And I wonder what happened to we
Even now, all this time later
I think about you without rest
But I've come to learn that if you can't handle me at my worst
You don't deserve me at my best
