5 fit 'n' fun things to do this weekend

Yay! Five unboring ways to get in a dose of good vibes while school’s out.

Check out the new DVD by the Tone It Up girls.
Katrina Hodgson and Karena Dawn whipped up a super-fun workout for our Feb/March issue. They have a brand-new fitness DVD out that’s perf for getting in a butt-kicking sweat sesh, without leaving your living room.

Make something you can feel good about.
Last night I was in the mood to cook. I was about to break out the butter and sugar and create a total cookie fest. And then I thought about it: If I’m trying to eat healthy and so are my BFFs, why would I make sweets? If you have the urge to get crafty in the kitchen this weekend, whip up something your bod will love ya for, like this yummy (and substantial!) salad.

Feel better about your bod.
OK, we love that everyone tries to get healthier in the new year. That said, let’s make sure we’re all hitting the gym and eating better for the right reasons. It’s key to heart you body for all the fab things it does for you. The point? Say no to body bashing, scary diets and over-exercising. Nancy Redd, self-esteem guru, Harvard grad and a Miss America swimsuit winner, is just the girl to help you out with that if you need a boost. She wrote Diet Drama, a book packed with solid advice for helping you feel your best.

Eat carrots and tomatoes.
A recent study found that eating veggies high in carotenoids makes your skin glow. Add a li’l red ‘n’ orange to your salad and you’re golden. Easy-peasy and no bronzer required.

Dance!
Lately, we’ve been talking a lot about things that make us happy. Dancing kept popping up on all of our lists. Whether you practice a bit of ballet or just groove along to your fave tunes, take a few minutes to just break it down this afternoon. Or get creative and give belly dancing a whirl
