Our top tips for talking to boys

You’ve snagged a fab date, but in the middle of dinner, you freeze up. What should I say? is the only thing you can think about. Forget about how hot your date is and be natural, girlie. But, when in doubt—and we’ve so been there!—keep these tips in mind.

Be confident
Even if you’re so nervous you’re shaking, remember “mind over matter,” and act like you know what you’re doing. Go up to him with something to say and be yourself. Fake the confidence until you’re comfortable enough so that you don’t have to fake it anymore.

Find the perfect balance
Usually when you’re comfortable in a convo nothing can go wrong (as long as he’s comfy too) but just remember not to answer questions with one word answers cause those are conversation killers, and don’t dominate the convo with long winded stories either, ‘cause the guy won’t even remember what you came over to talk about in the first place!

Don’t plan out the convo
Every time you think you have the perfect line and you wait all day to say it, when you finally get the chance it won’t sound natural and you’ll be beating yourself up for the awkward convo you just started. If you have a great story or joke, sure share it, but don’t prepare conversations in your head and then freak out when it doesn’t work out like you rehearsed it in your room. Just be yourself and don’t stress.

Look him in the eye
It’s hard to stare into someone’s eyes when you’re talking because it makes the convo way more intimate, but it’ll also make it that much better and memorable. If he’s into you, you’ll both walk away with butterflies.

Smile
Everyone is beautiful when they smile, and it may seem cheesy, but if you give him a glance of your pearly whites every now and then while you talk not only will you look like a happier more approachable person, but it shows that you’re into the conversation and that what he’s saying can make you smile.
