The Show Begins: An original poem

Hey girls! Here’s an original poem written by a GL Reader just like you who wished to remain anonymous. Leave your critiques in the comments!

The Show Begins

As Actors
we stand shoulder to shoulder
masked by heavy curtains, black as night.

Anticipation building,
energy nearly vibrating off this sea of bodies.
Adrenaline pumping through my body!

Lines, scenes, lyrics
all whizzing through my brain,
mosquitos buzzing in my mind.

Friends' hands clasp together,
fingers interlacing.
Whispers of "It's here!" and "Break a leg!" create a domino effect,
echoing in my ears.

Director's voice rises above the crowd!
Hanging on her every word, we listen:
"Enjoy the show!"

We all hear, and it finally hits me.
My heart begins to race uncontrollably,
energy surging through my veins.

Curtains glide open,
a hush falls over the crowd
and the show begins.
