10 ways to brighten a rainy day


If your weekend’s forecast is shadowed by the doom-and-gloom of spring showers, it’s time to grin, girlie, and find a way a bust the boredom. We’ve got a few simple ideas to add a li’l sunshine to your day.

Wear yellow (or bright colors)
Studies show that the colors you wear can affect your mood. We’re not exactly social science buffs, but those psychologists were definitely onto something. If you wanna add a little brightness to your gray day, just add brightness to your outfit, literally. How easy—and stylish. Flaunt it, fashionista!

Decorate delicious desserts
Rain, rain, go away! Stuck inside with nothing to do? Have a little fun in the kitchen and whip up some sweet treats for you and the fam. Then, wile away those rainy hours by decorating cookies, brownies and cakes with colorful frosting. Pretty and delicious? Yum!

Deck the halls, er…table
Channel your inner Martha Stewart and search the house for a colorful table cloth and cheery centerpiece. No flowers on hand? Grab some colorful tissue paper and a packet of pipe cleaners and twist ‘n’ fluff a DIY bouquet. Set the table for a wonderful family dinner. Wanna go above and beyond? Give your ‘rents a hand with dinner, too.

Groove to upbeat tunes
Music can be an instant mood-lifter. Turn up your fave tunes and go ahead, let loose a little!
