A speedy workout you can do anywhere!

Forget trendy classes at the gym. The latest buzz in fitness news is the fab benefits of calisthenics, aka, workouts you can do with your own body weight. The New York Times recently posted an article highlighted how much you can do, without stepping foot into a gym.

The article reported that with calisthenics you’re able to have a quick and effective workout wherever you are, and all you need is…yourself! A lot of the time, simple fitness moves like jumping jacks, push-ups and squats are overlooked. In reality, these moves will tone your entire body. Jumping jacks may seem simplistic and sooo elementary school gym class, but they will help you get toned. Pay attention to your form when you’re performing them and you’ll get your heart rate up.

The best part? These moves are totally portable, and only take a few minutes. If you’re on vacation and there isn’t a treadmill in sight, these quick pick-me-ups are a great workout (plus they won’t cut too much into your beach time).  As you get more advanced at these moves, try doing more reps with less rest. This will bring your heart rate up and keep it there for the entire time, making this a super effective workout!
