I've got the baby-face blues

I look like a little kid! I know every girl’s body matures at a different pace, but my face looks so young. Why is that, and what can I do about it?

Here’s the unfortunate truth: growing up can be totally hard. In just a few years, your body changes completely, making you totally awkward, and worse, all your friends are changing at different rates, which makes all girls way self-conscious! Everyone develops differently, so even though you think your face looking younger is totally abnormal, it’s actually really common and nothing to worry about. By the time puberty runs its course, all your body parts will be proportionate. It just takes time for everything to catch up.

Put it in perspective

I know it seems terrible now, but being a teen is only a few years of your long life. Instead of stressing, forget about your insecurities (everyone has ‘em, I swear!) and enjoy the experience of growing up. You’ll have a lot more fun if you aren’t worrying about how you look.

Focus on the positive

Forget about your baby face if thinking about it drives ya crazy. Instead, focus on all the things you love about yourself. I’m not saying vanity is the answer, but boosting your self-esteem might be. Maybe you love your long legs, or maybe you adore your lovely locks. Next time you wanna despair over your appearance, keep in mind everything you love about yourself! You’ll be smiling in no time.

Try new things

If your parents allow it, grab some allowance money and head to a department store with a good makeup department. Explain the sitch to the ladies behind the counter and they can help you find a look that makes you more confidant. A touch of mascara or blush might not do a lot to change your look, but they can help you feel older and more grown up. Don’t go overboard, however—makeup is totally fun, but too much is fake, not fabulous.

Wait it out

The reality is, there isn’t a whole lot you can do except wait. Unless you’re planning to build a time machine, patience is the only thing that’ll get ya from now to all grown up. We promise, everything will eventually even out, so until your body behaves, enjoy the wait and take advantage of how great it is to be a teen. Stay positive, chica!
