3 ways to keep in touch with your summertime sistahs

You made a ton of new friends this summer—at camp, at the pool, at your cousin’s lake house. Just ‘cause school is on the horizon doesn’t mean you have to say sayonara to your new sweeties. Hold on tight and stay connected with our best ways to keep in touch with faraway friends.

Schedule a chat date

Thanks to programs like Skype, you can talk face-to-face with friends from Timbuktu to right next door. Set up a weekly or biweekly video chat call with your crew of camp cuties. You can belt out the camp song, trade BTS horror stories and host a virtual truth or dare sesh.

Start a chain letter

Sure, IM and text might get your news across in a jiffy, but there’s nothin’ like receiving mail from a friend. Send out a letter once a week with all of your news. When one friend receives it, she can add on her updates, and then pass it along to the next friend. Keep the packet going ‘til you see each other next.

Create your own sisterhood

Pick an object that means a lot to you and your pals. Maybe it’s a camp T-shirt or a necklace you crafted out of shells. Send it around in a circuit so that each of you has it for a week or two. When you mail it on to your next sweetie, include a letter about what happened when you were wearing it, just like the girls in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
