Is it bad to drink ice-cold water during sports?

Next time you wanna grab an icy water bottle during practice, think twice. It turns out that although cold water may be more refreshing, room temp or warm water is actually a lot better for your body.  Cold H20 absorbs more slowly into your body because the lower temp makes the blood vessels around your stomach shrink. So, warmer water does a much better job of hydrating a parched bod than the chilly stuff.

Once you’ve started drinking room temperature or lukewarm water, try raising the temperature even more (not during sports, of course). Hot water with a squeeze of lemon can be really great for your bod if you drink it twice a week, since it has been known to lift your mood, cleanse your blood stream, and can clear out your nose and throat. The hot temp also makes your body sweat, which flushes toxins and leaves your skin with a healthy glow. With all the great benefits of warm and hot water, you’ll be much better off skipping the ice cubes.
