4 ways to show your sweet side with honey!
Now’s
the time to be oh-so-thankful for our buzzy friends, the honeybees.
September is National Honey Month, and we’re counting the ways honey
makes our lives better:
- It’s a sore throat soother: Honey has antimicrobial properties, which can soothe your raw throat. Stir a spoonful into a hot cup of tea or suck on a lozenge.
- It can help heal wounds: Betcha didn’t know this one: A natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, honey helps heal scrapes and scratches more quickly by killing viruses, bacteria and fungus.
- It ups your energy: The natural sugars in honey help prevent fatigue during exercise and have been found to keep levels of blood sugar fairly constant compared to other types of sugar. Try spreading a spoonful on toast as a pre-workout snack at least 20 min. before you hit the gym.
- It makes a great moisturizer: Honey is a humectant, which means it attracts and retains moisture, making it perfect for cleansers and creams. Add a bit to your next bubble bath for ultra-smooth skin!
