Scent-sational! 5 stellar ways to make your space smell good

Sick of smelling the socks at the bottom of your hamper? Dying to ditch the stale and stuffy? Liven up your room with a barely there scent that’ll keep your sniffer oh-so satisfied.

Light ‘em up!

We heart candles, big and small. Snag a few votives and holders to scatter along your dresser, or pillars to decorate—and illuminate—your desk. Pick your pile o’ wax ‘n’ wicks carefully, though, babe. Some candles are much more fragrant—and potentially irritating to those with allergies—than others. For particularly strong scents, consider keeping them handy...and unlit.

Potpourri

For a vintage vibe, you can’t beat a pretty bowl piled high with dried herbs, flowers and spices. For autumn, we’re loving warm scents—cinnamon, vanilla, apples and oranges, cloves and nutmeg…mmm! When the holidays roll around, try festive notes of peppermint and pine. And for everyday, choose your year-round faves. Check out our fall potpourri DIY, or pick up a pack at a home goods store near you.

Grab the Febreze

Looking for a quick, bottled fix? Head to Walmart or Target and take your pick of Febreze’s line of air effects. A quick spritz will leave your laundry (and the rest of your boudoir) smelling fresh and clean. For a dose of fab fall smells, try their so-sweet seasonal lines. Heaven!

Cinnamon stick savvy

Not big on potpourri and not allowed to light up candles? Grab a small drinking glass or mason jar and head to the grocery store for a package of cinnamon sticks. Toss a few in and enjoy.

Sweet sachets

When the temps drop, it’s tough to get out of bed and push through your morning. We get it—that’s why we’re digging sachets. Make up some DIY potpourri or purchase some at a crafts store, sew up and fill a pouch, then drop into your drawers. When you pull them open to pick an outfit for school, you’ll be hit by a feel-good wave of your favorite scents. Mmm…
