"Ugly" - An original poem
Hello, darlings. Here is an original poem from GL reader Nikki, who is 12. We think it mirrors a lot of what we feel sometimes--and makes us remember just how important it is to find beauty in everything and everyone. Trust us, it's there. Tell us what you think in the comments.
"Ugly"
There was once a girl
who hated how she looked.
Every so often
someone would compliment her,
And she would smile.
Then look in the mirror
And look for what they saw in her.
She would look
so very hard.
but never saw
anything but ugly.
Then she would start to cry.
Hide her ugly face
and cry.
She would wonder
Why they lied to her.
And wish
They would stop.
After a while
She started
to hate compliments.
She felt ugly.
And nothing could change that.
