Pleasantly Peasant

My friend always wears cute peasant tops, and I really want one. But I don't know what I would wear with them or if they'd look good on me. Please help!

GL understands your style sitch. Peasant tops have the tendency to make you look more hippie than chic if you style it the wrong way. But, the loose shape and pretty patterns are flattering on most girls.
The key is to make your peasant shirt look modern. Our main rules: stay far away from anything else that’s too laidback or 60s-inspired. No flare jeans, cut-offs, moccasins, braids or peace signs. Luckily, we have plenty of lovely pieces you can pair them with. Keep reading for our faves.
Paisley Chiffon Peasant Top, $23, Forever21.com
Pick a dark wash straight-leg or bootcut jean. Since the peasant shirt will be loose on top, you want to make sure you balance out the bottom with something more fitted.
The Flirt Jeans, $25, Oldnavy.com
For your feet, choose an adorable wedge sandal or a fab flat with great detailing.

Go easy on the accessories as to not overwhelm your upper half. Go with a cute pair of earrings or a single bangle.
Braided Bead Cuff, $4, Charlotterusse.com
Oh, and if your blouse-y top is sheer? Pop on a cute cami or tank underneath. Perfect!
