Insta Ice Cream

Warmer temps got you searchin' for a sweet treat to cool you off? Check out this easy make-your-own ice cream recipe. It only takes a sec and the kids'll love helping out.

What You'll Need:

For this recipe, you'll need one quart and one gallon-sized freezer bag – preferably the  ones with the li'l zippers. Make sure that you when you shake your self-made "mini ice cream freezer" you do it over the sink.

1 cup milk (We recommend 1% milk)
1/8 cup powdered coffee creamer
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 ice cube tray of ice cubes
1/2 cup salt

What You'll Do:

1. Place the quart bag into a small mixing bowl so it won't fall over. Put the milk, creamer, sugar and vanilla into the bag. Seal well, and shake over the sink for about one minute until blended, holding the top of the bag as you shake.

2. Put the ice cubs and salt into the gallon-sized bag. Place the sealed quart bag inside the larger bag and seal tightly. Shake over the sink for at least two minutes until the mixture in the bag is the consistency of soft ice cream. Serve immediately. Hint: A shaking technique that works well is to hold onto the zipper part of the bag with one hand, while placing your other hand underneath the bag and bouncing it.
