Girl Talk: Open Up, Buttercup!

loss.jpg

I have a hard time makin' new friends and I don't ever know what to say. When everyone in class is talkin' to each other, I just don't know how to get in on the convo. I really would like to make a few new friends, especially this one guy. I could talk to him at the bus stop, but I don't know how to start the convo with out him thinkin' I'm weird for randomly talkin' to him. I have talked to him before, a lot actually, but I haven't in a really long time. I wanna start over. I think I come of a bit unapproachable, but I don't do it on purpose. How can I make new friends and be more approachable?'

Hey chica,

Making friends is never easy, even for those who are outgoing! You have nothing to worry about, babe. You just have to remember to be yourself, build up some more self-confidence and self-esteem and be comfortable with who you are!

Next time you try striking up a conversation with a classmate, try to engage the other person by saying something they can relate to. Make a comment about a new movie that just released or an assignment that everyone failed, etc. Talking about a hot topic will immediately get the other person going with their own thoughts and comments about the situation. Soon enough, you guys will be asking personal questions to each other!

Just remember that you don't have to act like someone or something you're not. People can see right through the masks and the facades others try to put on to look cooler. The only way you can become approachable is to be yourself. This will make others feel comfortable around ya! I know you can do it! Good luck, girlie!
