Big Breast Embarrassment

I'm starting to grow breasts and they're kinda big. I know some girls would die for that, but it's making me very uncomfortable. I don't really want to wear tight shirts because if I do, my school has the kind of kids who will make fun of you for everything. And I wear a bra but if I wear one to school my friends will be like, "You're wearing a bra, aren't you?" What should I do?

Ah, puberty. Love it or hate it, we all go through it at some point. It just so happens some people go through it earlier than others. For example, I got my period when I was 10 years old, way before all my other friends. I was mortified, so I definitely understand where you’re coming from.

Remember, you are NOT alone. All of my friends with big breasts hate them, especially my sister. Middle school is hard enough without having breasts and when you get them, it seems as though everything changes.

First of all, never let anyone make you feel ashamed for wearing a bra. Your body is going through changes. What’s happening to you is entirely normal, so you should never feel embarrassed about that. If one of your friends says, “You’re wearing a bra,” kindly tell her, “Yes, I am. What difference does it make?” Your cool, calm and collected attitude will make it seem like no big deal to wear a bra, because (guess what!?) it’s actually NOT a big deal.

And no one says you have to wear tight shirts. Wear clothes that compliment your body type and things that you feel comfortable in. Avoid clingy fabrics and low-cut tops to feel you absolute best. Most importantly, make sure you get professionally measured so you can rest assured that you’re wearing the right bra size. A good bra makes all the difference in how your clothes fit and how your breasts look.

The key here is confidence. If you look good on the outside, chances are you’ll feel ultra-fab on the inside. And don’t worry, hon, every girl has breasts. There’s nothing wrong with you and it’s not your fault yours are bigger than others. Work with what you’ve got. You go, girl!

Lots of love,
L’Oreal
