American Idol Recap: Rock n Roll

The remaining idols totally rocked and rolled, following the wise words of mentor rock band Slash. With solo performances along with duets, the top four def put on an entertaining show. As the finale gets closer, it’s become super clear that anyone could win!
Adam started off the show singing Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.” He was awesome as always. Adam showed the audience and the judges once again that he is a true rocker and has the passion (and the amazing vocals) to go all the way! Randy and Kara agreed that Adam is a rock god, while Paula even said that he was perfection. A

Next up was Allison singing “Cry Baby.” Her powerful vocals left me wanting more and I totally got the chills after her performance was over. While I was left in awe, the judges were not. Randy didn’t love Allison’s song choice and Simon thought that the performance was a bit too similar to the original. Be that as it may, I thought that Allison sounded amazing! Sorry Simon. A-

Kris Allen and Danny Gokey performed a duet singing “Renegade.” I was surprised to see just how well their voices matched and just how powerful the performance was. Kara agreed and thought that the pair was super strong, along with Paula who thought it was powerful and compelling. A-
Kris Allen performed alone next singing “Come Together.” I am def a Kris fan, but I don’t think this was one of his better performances. Perhaps a different song would have worked better. Kara was on the same page—she didn’t like the performance at all. I do agree with Paula that he has great stage presence, but as Simon said—it was totally not memorable. B

Danny Gokey followed Kris with Aerosmith’s “Dream On.” I thought Danny did a decent job, but I wasn’t blown away. He was def energetic and connected to the song, but Kara seemed to think he may have taken his swagger too far this time. I agree that the performance was a bit over the top. B

Allison Iraheta and Adam hit the stage together singing “Slow Ride.” Their performance was flawless and I felt as if I were watching an actual rock concert. Their edgy, strong vocals totally complimented one another and I wouldn’t mind seeing more duets from these two. The judges agreed that they pushed each other to be better and even referred to them as the rock god and goddess. Great job guys! A+

Rock week was super fun and showed that these four idols are definitely in it to win it. Their passion and drive to make it to the top was obvious. As for who should go, it’s a tough call. I’m going to have to say that I think it’s going to be between Kris Allen and Danny Gokey. What do you girlies think? Let us know!
