Shaving Tips To Save Your Skin!

Nicks aren’t the only thing to worry about when ya start shaving. Dry skin, razor burn and ingrown hairs all get to even the most gorgeous of gams. But scoring smooth legs doesn’t have to be a summer bummer.
We chatted up master barber Diane Wood to nab her best-ever skin-savin' shaving tricks. Keep reading and you'll be a bump-free babe by beach time.

1. Get Buff

Ok, so you know to shave once you’ve been in the shower for a few (wet hair gives ya a better shave), but exfoliating is a crucial step when getting fuzz-free. “Try to exfoliate skin before shaving as this helps prevent in-grown hairs that are caused when the hairs curl back under the skin,” Diane shares.

2. Lather Up

Diane recommends using a shave gel over a cream. “It may feel good to have a lot of shaving foam on your legs but the fact is that the lather is created by surfactants (similar to detergents) which dry out your skin,” she tells us. Oh, and all of you girls who swear by a bar of Ivory and H20? “Soap or water alone can lead to dry and irritated skin.”

3. For the Fab Finish...

“After shaving, thoroughly rinse off any remaining shaving gel from your skin with cold water,” Diane spills. To avoid those pesky bumps, wait an hour before moisturizing. Apply your fave lotion, and you’re set!
