Help for bigger hips

Everybody says I am very skinny – I am a dancer and soccer player, and I engage in lots of physical activity. But I have a problem: my hips are huge! They look way too big for my naturally petite body.

I have to get jeans that are bigger so they will fit around my hips, but when they fit my hips they are always too big for my thighs and butt. Any ideas on what I can to do embrace my hips and find jeans that are a comfy but perfect fit? Thanks!

Hey there, girl!

I totally know where you're coming from! I'm a dancer too, so I have a pretty thin upper half. Though I don't have really wide hips, my butt is way big in comparison to my skinny torso. I used to hate it so much! I'm still learning to embrace it. But, I've found ways that help me to accept my curvy backside that will hopefully help you to love your curves as well.

I have never met a girl who was completely happy with her body.  The girls with skinny figures and small booties that I wish I could look like even complain about how they look! The truth is: you can't get rid of your hips.  And because you're so active, you won't be able to miraculously work them off (I wish!). I find that the first step to embracing your figure is accepting this fact. Besides, you're gorgeous the way you are!

Flaunt what you've got! If you love your petite body, find ensembles that emphasize your cute figure.  Discover which parts of your bod you absolutely love and show them off. For the parts you don't like, wear clothes that hide them a bit. I know for me, and probably you, form-fitting sweater dresses and skirts that hug are a definite no-no (even though I wish I could wear them!). Try wearing flowy A-line dresses or bright, form-fitting tops while accessorizing with funky, chunky, bright, or long necklaces to direct attention away from your hips and towards your skinny upper bod. Also, find clothes that make you feel confident. It's all about how you carry yourself and put yourself together. When you feel great, you look great!

As for jean shopping, all girls are still looking for an easy way to find the perfect pair. You can try getting jeans tailored for you, but that can get pricey. For now, I think the best way to go is the old trial-and-error method. I wish I could help more! My only advice is to shop around. Try on jeans at lots of different stores...even though it can get super annoying after a while!  When you find a pair that fits you well, make sure to remember the brand and what size you wear.  Keep looking for that brand because you'll probably have more luck.

I hope this helps!  Go out and show them what you've got!
