A BFF in need...

My best friend is probably the most important person in the world to me and I would do anything for her. Her life hasn't always been easy but she always puts on a happy face and covers it up. You can tell that she tries so hard to be tough but inside she is in a LOT of pain.

Most of the time she even tries to starve herself because of fights with her friends and stuff. It's really scary because once she's at home there is nothing I can do to stop her. I'm really scared that it's going to get worse than just starving herself. I can't sleep at night thinking my best friend is in this much pain.

Usually she confides in me and tells me everything that's going on so I can help her work things out, but recently she's been acting weird and doesn't talk to me as much. I wonder if I did something wrong or if something happened at home.

Hey Girl,

Whoa, this is a super tough situation. I'm scared for your friend, too! It's not easy to say what, exactly, is putting her in so much pain - but whatever it is, she needs you as the great BFF you are more than ever before.

When we go through tough situations like this, it can be super lonely. Most importantly: always be there for her no matter what. Whenever she wants to, laugh with her, cry with her, or just listen to her talk. Whatever she needs!

Let her know that you're worried about her health and safety - ask if she needs any help, or if there's anything you can do to make it better. Don't push her too much if she doesn't sound like she wants help right away - she's treading on pretty thin ice, and the last thing you want to do is push her away further.

If she doesn't get help herself or if you think the sitch is getting worse, contact an adult that both you girls trust . Talk to someone about ways the two of you can help her. She sounds like she may need some professional help.

Stay strong, girlie. She needs you more than ever right now!

Good luck,
Katie P.
