Snow Day in Summer Sleepover

Hey, summer sistahs! Is the heat beginning to totally get to you? It might be just about time for a snow day! We know what you’re thinking: have the gals at GL have completely lost their minds? Well, have you ever heard of "Christmas in July" parties? Think of it as a spin-off from those!

But instead of having x-mas in July, follow GL’s tips and invite a bunch of your BFFs over for a snow day sleepover! So stay in your PJs, snow bunnies, the weather reports are in: we’re in for a blizzard! So you know what that means: round up your besties ‘cause it’s gonna be a snow day tomorrow!

Oh, baby it's cold inside...

There may not be snow outside, but that doesn’t mean frosty the snowman can’t visit your room! Transform your room from whatever to winter wonderland! Remember those snowflakes you used to make when you were younger by folding paper and cutting out shapes? Get in touch with your inner kiddie and make a bunch of those to hang around your room!

Have any white lights lying around from the holidays? Ask the ‘rents if you can adorn your room with ‘em! You can make the temps fall without even touching the thermostat by blowing up some balloons in chilly colors like silver, white, and icy blue and letting them loose in your room. You can pick up balloons at your local party store.

You can even break out a Christmas tree and make some DIY seashell ornaments – the perf combo of cold and hot seasons. You can make mini stockings for each guest out of old (and clean!) socks. Wanna really feel fuuuuh-reezing? Set the thermostat down a few notches.Brr!

Frosty fun

Snowball fights are a must for any blizzard babe! Instead of using real snow, (unfortunately, the real stuff is a no unless you’re chilling with the penguins in Antarctica) use toilet paper to make your snowballs! But of course, don’t forget to ask the ‘rents first! You aren’t gonna want to use the toilet paper from your own bathroom, so stock up on some rolls from your local grocery store. To make your snowballs, just bunch up some toilet paper into the shape of a ball and get ready to throw ‘em. Uh oh! Don’t forget to duck!

In a snowstorm, there’s really nowhere you and your gal pals can go, so make sure to indulge in a movie marathon! Ask each of your besties to bring along a fave holiday or wintery flick and try to watch as many as possible. Some of our faves? Frosty the Snowman, Eight Crazy Nights, The Santa Clause, Home Alone, A Christmas Story, Elf, Love Actually, and The Nightmare Before Christmas (hey, takes the place of spooky stories, right!?). Snuggle up in plaid PJs and enjoy!

Chilled-out cuisine

Every chilly chica knows you can’t have a snow day without snuggling up with a warm mug of hot chocolate! Well, it might be too toasty outside for a steamy cup of cocoa. Instead, try our recipe for frozen hot chocolate. In a blender, combine 4 packets of hot chocolate mix, 1.5 cups of milk, ice, and ½ cup of chocolate syrup. After blending, pour into glasses and top with whip cream and mini chocolate chips. Delish!

A winter season staple for all snowflake sistahs is decorating cookies. Make it super fun as well as super easy by picking up slice-and-bake sugar cookie dough from your local supermarket. While you’re there, don’t forget to grab a bunch of goodies to decorate your scrumptious cookies! You can find a bunch of options like sprinkles, icing, and candies in the baking aisle. Eating your finished cookies later is a must!

Make sure to have other snow day snacks handy that would be perf for the movie marathon! We’re thinking popcorn, chips, veggies n’ dip, M&M’s, Twizzlers – whatever you love to munch on when you’re vegging out in front of the TV!
