Headache horrors

I get migraines a lot. They are so annoying! I had to miss one of my dance competitions and stay in my bed all day because of one!


Is there any way to prevent migraines? What’s the best thing to do when you get one?

Hey girl! So sorry to hear about the painful migraines. My aunt and my neighbor get horrible ones, and I can only imagine how bad it must be! They can get in the way of doing what you love.


The thing about migraine headaches is that they're usually caused by something. That trigger is diff for everyone and can be anything from eating chocolate to being super stressed out to having hormone level changes when it's that time of the month. Some people say getting some caffeine in your system by drinking a glass of soda helps, but again, it's diff for everyone.


The best thing to do is to figure out that trigger. Try keeping a journal for every time you get a migraine. Record what you ate earlier that day, if you're stressed out, what you did that day. After a little while, you might be able to figure out what causes your migraines so you can avoid it. Also, I def recommend seeing a doctor.  Your doc can help you figure out what's wrong. Plus, there are meds to help relieve the ache and prevent your migraines, which will leave you feeling way better.


Until you figure out what's up, just try to relax next time a migraine hits. Wear comfy clothes, turn off the lights, close the door on all that noise, crawl into bed, and rest. Do whatever makes you feel better. It may not make the migraines go away, but it can't hurt, right?
