Summer Fun and Fitness

What better time than the sweltering hot days of summer to head to the water to cool down?

Whether you’re stuck in your hometown all summer or headed to the beach for a fun vacay with the fam, there are plenty of fun activities to cool you off when you’re looking to put a fun spin on your lazy summer days. After all, 70% of the earth is covered with water—why not take advantage of it?

Stayin’ Local?
Grab a friend, sib or neighbor and head to the lake. Near my house there’s a huge lake where people walk, picnic and play sports. But what about that huge body of water in the middle?

My sibs and I went a few weeks ago and tried something new—paddleboating! Def not your typical weekend activity and it’s so fun to look at things from a new perspective—from right in the middle of the lake. And hey, you’re getting some exercise too.

Rentals are typically under $10 for a half-hour and you just paddle away (Some places require one person to be at least 16, so bring someone older along!). Other options include kayaks but if you get a paddleboat, you and a friend (or 3! some fit up to 4 people) can lean back, paddle, chat and enjoy the view.

Vacation, All I Ever Wanted
You and your fam heading away for the week? My fam just got back from a week at the beach and as much as I love lounging on the beach with a good read or splashing in the water, it’s fun to mix it up once in a while.

When you’re on vacation, you often have a lot more opps to try new things (unless you live in a beach town, lucky girl!). My fave thing we did on the trip? Parasailing! I’m not one for crazy ‘coasters at amusement parks or extreme sports but I’ve always secretly wanted to go parachuting, so this was a perfect solution. It’s super-safe—you’re attached to a parachute and a boat—and def worth it!

My brother and I went up together to a staggering height of 800 feet. The ride was calm, oh-so relaxing, and def a unique experience to get the view from above! It’s pricy but get your whole fam excited and you’ll all enjoy this special treat.

If there’s one thing I learned this summer, it’s that you don’t need to go far to try something new. If you feel like you’re stuck in the suburbs or just don’t know what to do next, call a friend and pick a creative activity.

Blog it out! What unique activity do you and your friends love? Any activity you’ve been wanting to try? Tell us how you’re adding flair to your summer!
