Cool Weekend Hair

Wearing your hair down looks pretty, but if you’re spending the weekend shopping (or chillin’ on the couch) it can totally get in the way.  Here are three cute styles that’ll look amazing at the mall, or wherever you might be headed (like lunch with a cutie or to the movies with your BFFs). Keep reading to spy our fave ponytails (and one fab bun!), and treat your tresses to a new holiday ’do.

Braided Ballerina Bun
Doubled-up braids put a cute twist on a sleek bun. So modern!

While hair is still damp, spritz on a texturizing spray.

Let locks air-dry almost all the way and then blow-dry the rest of the way, using your hands to create texturized waves. Then, part hair down the middle with a comb.
Gather a small section of hair on one side of your part. Braid it back to just above your ear and then pin it in place. Repeat on the other side.
Gather all of your strands into a low pony and twist into a bun. Keep it in place with an elastic. Or, leave your hair down for a summery ’do (hey, at least your bangs will be outta the way!).

Curly Side Pony
Envious of girls with pretty curls? There’s a quick, simple way you can get great rockin’ ringlets, lotsa volume and still have plenty of time to shop. Plus, your locks will look so glam, you can wear ’em out with your besties on Friday night!

Start with dry hair and heat up a large-barrel curling iron.

Clip top sections of your hair out of the way, and start by curling the bottom strands. Lightly spritz hairspray on each section before you curl it. When your hair is in the curling iron, spray on a bit more (use a soft styling hairspray to avoid crunchy curls).
Work in sections, until all of your locks are curled. Use your fingers to brush through the ringlets.
For the final touch to this Hollywood-inspired style, create a side part and pull hair into a side pony. Finish it off with an adorable hair clip.

Edgy Ponytail
Got zero time to deal with your straight strands? We’ve got your new best pony, girl. It’ll keep locks outta your way, but still look totally fierce.

Start with a dab of texturizing pomade and run it through your hair to tame frizzies and flyaways.

TIGI Catwalk Texturizing Pomade, $20, sleekhair.com

Gather up the front section of your hair, twist and push forward to create a poof. Secure it with bobby pins.

Gather the rest of your hair into a high ponytail. The higher, the better! Secure with an elastic.

If you want a smoother look, take a flat iron and run it over your tresses in the pony. If you want an edgier, unfinished look, take some more of the texturizing pomade and create piecey, textured hair by running your hands through your pony and messing it up a bit.
