Ice Dancing with Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto

Calling all skating fans! We caught up with U.S. ice dancing partners Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto (and oh yeah, they’re the 2006 Olympic silver medalists!) to chat about their sport, being a fab teammate and the best way to warm up after a looong day.

What keeps you motivated when you're tired or having a rough practice?

Tanith: Knowing my partner will never give me less than his best every day. I could never let him down.
Ben: I always know that Tanith is going to be there giving 100 percent, so I had better do the same.

What are some traits that make good ice dancing partner?

Tanith: The same things that make a good relationship work: Honesty, communication, and a clear, common goal.
Ben: Humor, patience and dedication are very important.

What's the best kind of music to ice dance to?

Tanith: I enjoy modern music with a good beat. Latin music in particular makes me want to dance and have the most fun with it.
Ben: I find the best music for ice dance tells some kind of story. It's always easier for the audience to relate to a story.

Are there any healthy-yet-tasty snacks you love?

Tanith: I don't know why, but I love chickpeas and kidney beans! I'll eat them right out of the can with a bit of salt. So weird, but so good!
Ben: I love bananas. They are so delicious and are full of vitamins and minerals.

What's your fave way to relax after a big competition or workout?

Tanith: I enjoy complete silence, a long bath, and a good night's sleep. That's it!
Ben: I like to soak in a hot bath with Dead Sea salts. It really helps my muscles relax.

Ice rinks are sooo cold! What do you wear to stay warm before and after a performance?

Tanith: Being a true "rink rat" from age three means I've learned that fleece is my best friend! That, or my Ralph Lauren Olympic track jacket, which I can zip on and off easily over my costume are my must-haves.
Ben: I always have a countless number of fleeces to keep me warm at the rink.

What are your fave ways to stay cozy...and fashionable?

Tanith: I stick with basic colors and use a playful scarf or accessory to show my personality.
Ben: One word...Snuggie!!

LOL! We’re psyched to cheer on this pair as they (hopefully!) skate their way to another medal!
