TOO much makeup?

I always read that boys don't like it when girls cake on makeup.

But would they rather see concealer and foundation or a face of big huge pimples?

Hey girl!

I’m a firm believer that “real beauty” is what feels good to you, and not necessarily what you think others (especially boys!) expect.

Boys & Beauty

So you may read that boys think girls shouldn’t wear makeup, but is that actually what they’re saying? Remember that dudes don’t wear cosmetics, so they might not know the difference between concealer and foundation, anyway! Even if you hear that cutie by your locker tease a girl about her rosy cheeks, it’s usually just to get her attention—not to be mean or critical.

Ask the Experts!

Your best source of advice for makeup? Your mom, girlfriends, or better yet, the friendly woman behind the makeup counter at a department store.

Makeup experts can teach you everything from how to find your right shade, how to apply your makeup and to keep you from breaking out— even how to remove it, too. Plus, if you want to go for a “natural” look, the experts are the ones who can give you an FYI and all the right products.

Pretty is YOU

No matter your makeup routine, the most beautiful thing about you is well, YOU! Foundation and concealer can be a great way to cover up zits and even out skin. Just test a few different shades out 'til you've got one that looks natural against your born-with-it skin. "Too much makeup" really means just that—caking on a darker foundation to fake a tan (psst! Pale is pretty!), drawing on too-heavy liner to make your peepers stand out (a plain ol' swipe or two should do the trick) or globbing on hot pink lipstick (when a pretty gloss gives ya a better effect!). We are all beautiful in our own unique way and there's no reason to hide behind tons of makeup.

REALize the Real!

So, experiment with all kinds of products before you decide which is the best look for you. Just remember that less is usually more, and you wouldn't want to hide your gorge face under a ton of bronzer. The best rule of thumb with cosmetics is...don't go overboard! If wearing a  li'l foundation covers up breakouts and gives you confidence, then go ahead and apply a dab here and there to neutralize any redness. Oh, and always remember...there's no accessory like a shining smile and great 'tude. Go get 'em, girlie.
