A Day in the Life of a GL Intern: The Music Queen!

Wish you could organize those fash samples with the wave of wand?

Hey ladies! My name is Meghan, and as you may have guessed, I’m an intern here at GL.

When I was younger, Girls’ Life was one of my favorite magazines.
Skip forward a few years, and I found out through my college that I could be an intern, and now, here I am!

"Music is my life"

Working here at GL is a great time. Even though I was pretty nervous at first, I found out very quickly that you just have to relax. While I’m here, I work with all different types of entertainment: books, movies, music and whatever else is out there! I love finding out about new types of entertainment (especially music—it’s my life), so working here at GL is a great opportunity for me to “expand my horizons” (as my mother likes to say).

I <3 music!

Newspaper vs. Online Writing

Right now I’m a senior in college at Loyola University Maryland, and I’m studying Communications with a specialization in Journalism. While working here at GL, I also write a music column for Loyola’s newspaper, The Greyhound. My articles for The Greyhound are a bit different than those that I write for GL, because with newspaper you have to write in a totally different way!

For the newspaper, I have to follow a very different voice and guidelines. With the online writing that I do, I can be more personal about what I write, and I know that makes it more interesting to read than the stuffier “overly-professional” way of newspaper writing. Ever since I picked my major at school, I knew I wanted to work with a magazine, and GL is a great way to start!
