Get hot hair for the holidays

Want glam strands this second? We chatted up Nicholas Penna, Jr. of SalonCapri in Newton, Mass. to get the scoop on landing a party-perfect coif. A couple potions and a dash of sparkle are all it takes to shine this season. Happy, happy.

Make your blowout better: Nick’s recipe for drying right: Towel-dry your hair and comb it smooth.  Add a root-lifting product and then divide the hair into sections. Start with the underside of your hair and work your way around your head, brushing locks with a round brush as you go.

Get serious shine: “The winter not only dries out your skin, but your hair too,” Nick tells us. He swears by adding Shu Uemura Silk Oil to locks to help boost the shine.  “ Apply a dime-sized amount to towel-dried hair, making sure to work the serum from your scalp all the way to your ends.  Finish by blow-drying with a medium sized round brush for some outstanding glossy waves sure to sparkle at any party!”

Pop on a Headband
The easiest way to glam up your locks is to add a shimmering accessory. Plus, it makes it easy to transition your hair from school to party, Nick tells us.

Pump up the Volume
Got a case of deflated hair? “You can add volume and life to you hair with a volumizing product,” Nick tells us.  “Apply a palm-full of this mousse to damp hair, and then blow out hair.”  It’ll keep your hair full and shiny all night. Heart that.
