How to get the celeb hair of your dreams

The key to rocking cute curls or sleek 'n' straight strands is to make it look as natural as possible. Our girl Bella Thorne pulls this look off flawlessly, switching between curly, wavy, and straight so often that we can’t even tell which one is styled and which is her own. So if you're dying to get strands that look red carpet ready, just follow these steps to copy her two signature looks.

Sleek Hair

What You’ll Need:

  • Clips (for sectioning)
  • Flat Iron
  • Smoothing Serum
  • Heat Protection Spray
  • Round brush
  • Shine spray

Instructions:

1. While your hair is still wet, apply a smoothing serum to stop frizz in its tracks. We love John Frieda Frizz Ease Extra Strength Hair Serum.

2. Blow dry hair in sections with a round brush. Make sure ya dry from root to tip and always aim the hairdryer downward to avoid damage.

3. Spray your hair with a heat protection spray to the ends of your hair. A good one is TRESemme Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray.

4. Section off hair in manageable layers. Straighten your hair starting from a half inch after your roots. Pull outwards as you straighten, lifting from the scalp. This will help you keep some volume (like Bella’s style).

5. When you’ve straightened all sections, mist with some shine spray for a glossy finish. OGX Renewing Moroccan Argan Penetrating Oil works wonders.

Curly Hair

What you’ll need:

  • Clips (for sectioning)
  • 1.5 inch barrel curling iron
  • heat protection spray
  • Hair Spray

Instructions:

1. While hair is still damp, work a golf ball-sized amount of styling mousse through your hair. We love Ulta Style and Finish Defining Curl Mousse for a lightweight way to prep your styling.

2. When dry, spritz your strands with the heat protection spray to avoid any damage from the heat.

3. Section of your hair to make sure you don’t miss any pieces as you go—nothing is more annoying than having two or three straight chunks on a curly do!

4. Wrap a 1-inch chunk of hair around the curling iron, curling it about ¾ up your hair shaft. Hold for 20 seconds.

5. Let the strand fall, but support it with your hand until it cools so the curl stays intact.

6. Continue until all of your hair is curled, then gently run your fingertips through the curls for a more relaxed look like Bella’s.

7. Spray with a little bit of hair spray—not too much! No one likes crunchy curls.
