Get twisted: The flower bun upgrade you need in your life

Spring has officially sprung, and if you've been searching for a little hair inspo lately, this flower bun is going to be your new favorite go-to. It’s crazy cute, simple, goes with pretty much any outfit and takes only minutes to do. Best part? This style works great with second-day hair (score!). Check out the step-by-step directions below and get ready to watch your hair bloom before your eyes.

What you’ll need:

  • Clear elastic hair ties
  • Sea salt spray
  • Bobby pins
  • Hair spray

Directions:

Tip: Before you begin, spritz your hair with some sea salt spray for some added texture. This will also help keep the braided style from falling out.

1. Pull your hair into two low, loose ponytails.

2. Braid one ponytail into a normal three-strand braid.

3. Pull on the outer side of the braid to create volume on one side (this will be the petals of the flower).

4. Now braid the other ponytail, and pull on the outer side of the braid — the opposite side of the previous braid.

5. Take the first braid, and roll it into a bun at the top of the neck and in the middle of the head. The side you pulled on to create volume should be on the outer edge. Pin in place with bobby pins.

6. Take the other braid, and roll it around the first one. The pulled-out side of the braid should be on the outer edge. Pin in place with bobby pins all around.

7. Spray a dash of hair spray on the bun to keep it in place and those flyaways at bay.
