Celebrity-owned beauty brands that are actually worth the hype

Let's face it: These days, it seems like every celebrity has come out with their own line of makeup and beauty products, all promising the same exact things. And while there are so many options to choose from, sometimes less really *is* more. Here are five celebrity-owned beauty brands that are actually worth the hype and that you should definitely look out for.

1. Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez

@rarebeauty

Selena Gomez, known for her roles in TV series such as Wizards of Waverly Place and her Grammy-nominated music career, founded Rare Beauty in 2020. Since then, the brand has grabbed the attention of millions and has gotten a lot of support for its inclusivity and stand-out products like the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush. The brand has a notable following on platforms such as TikTok and has become a major force in the beauty industry in just under two years. Its messages of inclusivity, self-love and kindness (as well as the importance of mental health and commitment to spreading awareness through the Rare Impact Fund), have allowed the brand to become so much more than just a makeup line.

2. r.e.m. beauty by Ariana Grande

While Ariana Grande is widely known for her ah-mazing vocals and glass-shattering high notes, she has become quite a name in the beauty industry recently due to her new brand, r.e.m. beauty. The brand has an interesting space aesthetic, and its products are packaged in creative ways with a color scheme of grays, blues, purples and pinks. Plus, the visual aspect of the brand is on point, transporting you to a new galaxy. Products like the on your collar liquid lipstick have gained popularity for how comfortable and long-lasting they are, making her brand not only aesthetically pleasing but also well-made.

3. florence by mills by Millie Bobby Brown

@florencebymills

Millie Bobby Brown may be slaying on Stranger Things, but she's also quite the beauty entrepeneur. Her brand, florence by mills, has been acclaimed for promoting self-love, inclusivity and creative expression through makeup as well as skincare. With an array of different products (from face masks to the most perfect highlighters) and a wide variety of options (makeup, skincare *and* hair products), florence by mills seeks to empower young women across the world.

4. Fenty Beauty by Rihanna

@fentybeauty

Fenty Beauty, founded by Rihanna, has been around a little longer than the previous options and has already become an empire of its own. Rihanna first made waves in the cosmetics industry when she founded Fenty Beauty in 2017. The use of an online shade finder, meant to help users find an accurate shade match, takes away any of that confusion or stress from not knowing where to begin when it comes to finding the right makeup. Fenty Beauty has long championed inclusivity within its diverse shade ranges and has prompted other makeup brands to follow suit. Through its powerful messages and acclaimed products, this brand has made a lasting mark in the beauty industry.

5. about-face beauty by Halsey

@aboutfacebeauty

If you're looking for bold makeup, you should definitely check out Halsey's brand, about-face beauty. In addition to being cruelty-free, vegan and clean ingredient-focused, about-face beauty is all about bright and daring looks with products like its Fractal Glitter Eye-Paint that make every makeup look pop. If you're into being artsy and expressing yourself creatively through makeup, this brand is perfect for you. Its color scheme involves lots of bright reds, blues, yellows—basically, the entire rainbow—and you can find a lot of fun artistry within this brand. Halsey can be seen sporting fierce looks using her own products, showcasing the true power of creative expression through makeup.
