Ed. Obsession under $25: My new fave shorts (plus, DIY your own!)

My fave shorts of the summer aren’t your go-to cutoffs. They’re so much more than that. They’re your go-to dip-dyed cutoffs. And why do they deserve the rank of favorite pair? They easily elevate any outfit to style star status. Seriously. The vintage look and hi-rise cut makes every t-shirt I own look instantly cooler. I’ll be living in these pretties all summer long. Now, I just need the perf pair of sandals to match…

No time for the mall? Dip-dye your own shorts! (Courtesy of GL intern Sammi Parrish)

What you’ll need:

Jean shorts (white is best)

Clean bucket

Bleach (ask mom for help!)

Fabric Dye in your preferred colors

What you’ll do:

Note: If your shorts are dark blue, you may have to bleach them first to get the desired color.

1. Fill your bucket with hot water dye and follow the instructions on the dye package

2. Dip your shorts into the bucket as high as you want the color to go.

3. Hold the shorts in the bucket for about 7 minutes (or until you get the color you want). Repeat this step with different colors, moving down the legs of your shorts.

4. Wash out the dye, dry your jeans, and rock your new look!
