Who's gonna win an Oscar?

It’s that time of year again—all of the best movies and actors of the year have a chance to win some big awards. Nominations for the Oscars were announced this morning, and we’ve already picked our faves here at GL.

One of the more competitive categories is “Best animated feature film”. Many adorbs animated movies have come out this year, so this must’ve been a toughie. And with the hopefuls including How To Train Your Dragon, The Illusionist, and Toy Story 3, it’s kind of hard to say who we want to win. OK, nevermind, Toy Story 3 all the way. Oh, don’t pretend you didn’t cry while watching.

Another cool category is “Achievement in costume design,” with Alice in Wonderland, I Am Love, The King’s Speech, The Tempest, and True Grit all in the running. But we’re rooting for Alice in Wonderland—the actors all looked straight out of a fairy tale.
These action-packed films are all hoping to win “Achievement in visual effects” on the night of the Oscars, including Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, Hereafter, Inception, and Iron Man 2. We love feeling like we’re right inside the wizarding world, though, so we’re def cheering for HP.

“Best motion picture of the year” is surely the award that everyone’s after. Only a few made the cut, and those lucky people were the producers of Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, The Kids Are All Right, The King’s Speech, and 127 Hours. Our pick for the prize? Inception, the brilliant dreams vs. reality flick.

Above all, though, there’s one talented teen we’re hoping takes home a prize. Fourteen-year-old Hailee Steinfeld is in the running for “Best Actress in a Supporting Role” for playing Mattie Ross in True Grit. We can’t get enough of this chica and expect to see WAY more of her in the next coming year.
Do you think our faves are going to win big? Be sure to tune in with us Feb. 27 at 8 p.m. on ABC to find out!
