Carson Lueders on Chicken Girls and why his new music is the best of his career

Carson Lueders is calling it: his new music is the very best of his career. And that's saying something. It's been more than a decade since the 18-year-old launched his self-titled YouTube channel and started posting acoustic covers of his favorite songs.

Now, more than a million YouTube subscribers later, plus 120 million video views and a co-starring role on Brat TV's hit Chicken Girls, Carson is ready to release what he says is his greatest work yet.

"I'm really excited to enter a new lane with the music, because it's a little bit different than what I have been doing," he says. "My music can be anywhere from Ed Sheeran to The Weeknd. Sometimes, I strip it down to an acoustic ballad, but I also love hip-hop."

No matter what genre his songs fall into, there's one thing they have in common: They all come straight from the heart. "My inspiration is definitely from personal experiences," he says. "We don't really plan anything out. We just go into the studio and whatever we want to talk about, it just kind of flows into the music."

Being spontaneous is something Carson is used to. It's how he got into acting, too. Back in 2017, without much theater training, he landed a role on Chicken Girls after being approached by Brat TV.

"I didn't have a lot of experience in acting, but I always wanted to try it out," Carson admits. "So, I was really excited to try out for the role of Ace. A lot of my friends were already on the show, so I knew I wanted to be a part of it."

When he's not in the studio recording music, you'll find Carson kicking around with his buds on the set of Chicken Girls—usually scheming for his next move in a never-ending prank war.

"I love pranking people," Carson reveals. "Hayden [Summerall] and Rush [Holland] are my partners-in-crime. We would scare people or mess with their food. Not in a mean way—just funny things."

The Brat prank squad's No. 1 mark? Brooke Butler, aka Ellie Mack. "She's super gullible," he says. "But everyone on set has a great sense of humor about it all."

Even though he spends most of his time in the studio or on set, Carson manages to carve out some space in his crazy busy life to be a normal teenager.

In his down time, he heads back home to Spokane, Wash., where he unplugs from all things internet to embrace his outdoorsy side with his original crew.

"My friends are very supportive, and getting to spend time with them is great," he says. "Depending on the season, we'll ride snowmobiles through the mountains or ski and snowboard or go biking and fishing. Or just, you know, kick it, hang out and have fun."
