EXCLUSIVE! Everything you need to know about Lilo Baier's new EP, Introducing Lilo

Lilo Baier can do it *all.* The singer-slash-actress is srsly a force to be reckoned with (did we mention she's done over two hundred performances?) and has already begun to break out onto the music scene with a 5-song EP we've been streaming on loop. We had the amaze opportunity to speak with Lilo and get the deets on her music journey. Read on to learn all about her recording process, her love of ballads and the go-to advice she wants all her fans to know.

Girls' Life: What made you want to get into music?

Lilo: I performed for the first time on stage when I was four years old. I loved performing so much that I told my parents I wanted to be on stage for the rest of my life! Eventually, I started singing covers, and soon after began performing in musicials and other productions. When I was on The Voice Kids in 2019, I started thinking about writing my own original songs.  I'm so glad I got to make my dream a reality.

GL: What was the inspiration behind your new EP Introducting Lilo?

Lilo: Introducing Lilo describes my journey from Singapore to Los Angeles. When I first moved, I had to start from scratch. I went to a new school, got to know new friends and was trying to break into the industry. Each of my songs is about a different part of that journey. Learning to overcome obstacles, follow your dreams and stay true to yourself is what my EP is about.

GL: Do you have a favorite song on the EP?

Lilo: My favorite song from the EP is a ballad called "Better in Time." I listen to ballads all the time, so it was really amazing to make one myself. This song is about all the bumps in the road that you have to overcome. When you believe in yourself and never give up, things *will* get better in time. It's a great song to sing along with in a quiet moment.

GL: What was the recording process like for Introducing Lilo?

Lilo: The recording process was a dream come true! It was such a fun experience with my producer Jaylien. We bounced off so many ideas and, at the end, were able to put my stories and feelings into the five songs.

GL: If you were to record an album about your life right now, what would it be called?

Lilo: I think I would call it Follow Your Dreams. It's a mantra that I live by everyday. My parents always encouraged me to follow my passions, and that motivated me along the way. Acting and singing have always been my dream, and believing in myself was the key to building this career. I truly believe if you love something, following your heart will always get you to new and exciting adventures.

GL: Any advice for young artists looking to break into the music scene?

Lilo: One piece of advice I would give is to never give up, no matter what. There will always be a lot of rejection on your path, but believing in yourself is the most inportant ingredient for success. Plus, if you don't believe in yourself, who will? Always remember to stay true to who you are. Being an artist means you're in it with your heart and soul—and that *has* to be genuine.

GL: What future projects are you looking forward to?

Lilo: I am *super* excited for the new songs that I'm working on—I can't wait to share them with my fans. I also have a huge upcoming feature film, which is so thrilling. 2022 is already a great year!
