Taylor Swift just said she's the happiest she's ever been—let's talk about it

"I've just never been this happy in my life in all aspects of my life ever, and I want to thank you for that."

These were the words spoken by Taylor Swift at Gilette Stadium ahead of her first surprise song at Night 2 of the Eras Tour Foxborough this past Saturday. If you haven't seen the footage that's been all over TikTok already, let us set the scene for you—after two and a half hours of performing in a torrential downpour (in the words of Taylor, "the rainiest rain show that ever rain showed"), our girl Taylor stands, soaked to the bone in front of a crowd of 70,000, and smiles from ear to ear, noting how for the first time, everything "finally feels like it makes sense."

Swift also added that it wasn't just the Eras Tour making her feel this way, and mentioned that she wanted to play a surprise song that brings her "a lot of happy memories." That song was "...Question?". And TBH? We have a lot of questions, too, Taylor.

So what exactly is making Taylor happy? Let's jump (then fall) into all of the things that may have made Taylor reach this "State of Grace."

The Eras Tour?

Obvi! For over two months, the Eras Tour has been a smash hit. With a 44-song setlist and dedication to almost every album (RIP debut), the ambitious three-and-a-half-hour show has been praised consistently by critics and fans alike. Demand for tickets is still astronomically high, and even a four-hour lightning delay hasn't stopped Taylor from giving her fans a complete show.

Before the Eras Tour, Taylor hadn't toured for half of a decade. And though we know Taylor is comfortable in private, we also know that she has def missed the roaring crowds of a stadium tour. I mean, a diamond's gotta shine.

A new bae?

After news broke that Taylor and Joe split in early April, it wasn't long until sources began speculating that Swift was dating Matty Healy, the mercurial lead singer of alternative British band The 1975. Matty soon started appearing at concerts. He attended all three nights of tour stops Nashville and Philadelphia, even playing guitar for friend and concert opener Phoebe Bridgers.

In between tour dates, Taylor has been seen multiple times with Matty, turning the most heads when a photographed dinner date with Jack Antonoff caught the pair holding hands. While Taylor would never provide confirmation of her rumored beau, we can bet that a fledging friends-to-lovers romance could certainly be making her heartbeat skip down 16th Avenue.

Her crew of best girls?

Newly single, Taylor was spotted out and about in NYC last month with a 1989-esque girl gang, and we were *living* for it. Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively and the Haim sisters were all hanging with Tay on this particular afternoon, but we've since seen celebs like Sabrina Carpenter, Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Lawrence showing their love for Taylor at her shows as well.

With a posse of best friends who love and support you to the moon and to Saturn, how could Taylor not be the happiest she's ever been?

Speak Now (Taylor's Version)?

Releasing Speak Now in 2010 was one of Taylor's most pivotal moments in her career. Responding to critics who believed that Taylor was unable to write a song on her own, our girl dropped Speak Now—an album she wrote almost entirely herself. "If This Was A Movie" was the only co-written song on the album, but Taylor has since moved this song to the Fearless rerecorded album. On July 7, she can say that Speak Now (Taylor's Version) was written completely on her own.

With Fearless (Taylor's Version) and Red (Taylor's Version) both outperforming their predecessors, there's no doubt that Speak Now (Taylor's Version) will do the same. And with six vault tracks? It's a recipe for success that we think Taylor can't wait to share with her fans.

Although there are plenty of exciting developments that Taylor has going on rn, we cannot confirm or deny that any one of these factors are actually contributing to why she says she is the happiest she's ever been. But no matter what, one thing is for certain: We're happy that Taylor's happy.
