“I have been into music for a while—I play guitar and piano so I understand music. With Spectacular! there was a two-week rehearsal period and I learned a lot of the dances then. I have always been able to dance, though, so it wasn't too hard to pick up the dance routines.

HE’S HISTORY
“I am really quirky in general, but more specifically, I love old things—I’m kind of an antique collector, so I have old metal roller skates and an antique fire extinguisher.”

TRYIN’ NEW THINGS
“I eat a lot of burgers. Actually it's about all I eat, so I'm going to try to put different things in my diet.”

YOU’RE MY INSPIRATION
“There are so many people that come to mind, but Johnny Depp and Robert Downey Jr. are definitely on the top of my list. They always choose such great roles and I would love to work with them.”

A FEW OF HIS FAVORITES
“Well, I don’t watch TV and I read a lot more poetry and short stories then actual books. I listen to a lot of indie rock and blues. And my favorite movie of all time is Benny and Joon.”

SCI-FI FUTURE
Up next for Avan is Caprica, a TV series prequel to the popular sci-fi show XI. “I play a bad boy, the boyfriend of a scientist’s daughter, who ends up doing some pretty crazy things. He is a darker character, so it's a lot of fun playing him and it’s such a switch from Spectacular!.”
