Should schools teach LGBT history?

Throughout our school-age years, we learn about Martin Luther King, Jr., and Harriet Tubman. We read about Pocahontas and Crazy Horse. But can remember your last school assignment that focused on the leaders of the LGBT civil rights movement? My guess: probably not.

The California state senate is looking to change history, literally, with a bill that would require textbooks taught in California public schools to mention gay and lesbian pioneers, theweek.com reports. And because many states use the same textbooks produced for California, other communities would likely have to follow suit. It is the first step any state has taken to recognize LGBT leaders in the realm of public education.

What do you think, babes? If it were up to you, would you vote yay or nay for this new bill?
