Scary news: Student hospitalized after middle school shooting

Updated: This afternoon, there was yet another school shooting, this time at Price Middle School in Atlanta. There aren’t many details available yet, but as far as we know, one 14-year-old boy has been taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound and a teacher has been injured. The shooter? Another student. No one else appears to be injured, and the shooter is currently in police custody.

As always, our thoughts and prayers are with the school community and all of you. We are so grateful there have been no fatalities from this attack, but that doesn’t mean it’s not just as serious as Sandy Hook, or one of the many other shootings that have taken place this week alone.

Yesterday, a five-year-old boy was taken off a school bus by a man with a gun. His bus driver was shot and killed when he refused to let the little boy off. The child is still being held hostage by the gunman. And on Tuesday, Hadiya Pendleton, 15, was shot when a man open fired on her and a group of friends. Earlier this month, she had performed at President Obama’s inauguration.

We are immensely saddened by the shootings that continue to plague our families, friends, communities and nations. And we can only hope and work toward an end to this pointless violence.

Much love,
