Usually, pit bulls can be given a bit of a bad rep, but Hades the pit bull’s heroic deeds are giving her breed a good name.

When Jesse-Cole S., an 8-year-old from Oregon, was playing out in the woods with some of his friends and his sister, Jasmine, things took an unexpected turn.

They got down to the creek and that’s when it happened—a swarm of bees came buzzing out of one of the rotten logs someone stepped on. Instantly, the bees attacked, stinging the children as they started running back up the embankment and towards their apartment complex.

Jesse-Cole, however, couldn’t make the climb after being stung 24 times by the bees. That’s when his pit bull came to the rescue.

Realizing her owner was in trouble, Hades proved why dogs are a man’s best friend and began trying to pull Jesse-Cole up the hill where the other kids had run to get help.

“Hades saw me and came and she dragged me up to the grass and then stopped and let me crawl on her back and then took me to mom,” Jesse-Cole told Fox 12 in Oregon.

Jesse-Cole’s mother explains that it easily could’ve been a potentially lethal attack, especially for Jasmine who was deathly allergic to bees and was stung five times—she had run to get her Epi-Pen which is why she was unable to help her brother.

A neighbor called 911 and the children were taken to a local hospital where they were treated for their bee stings. One thing is for sure, though, Hades really saved the day, because the attack could’ve been way worse if it wasn’t for this brave li’l pup and her quick actions!

"Oh, I thank my puppy," their mother exclaimed to Fox. "I'm so glad we adopted her."
